ACTIVE AND ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
RULES
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP:
Eligibility for active membership in the Peace Officers Association of
Georgia is open to any full-time peace officer, sheriff or deputy,
correctional officer (state or federal), city or county jailer, staff personnel of the Peace
Officers Standards and Training Council and its recognized training
academies and full-time instructors, radio operators, drivers license
examiners, federal agents and railroad police who are assigned to duty in
Georgia, licensed security officers, district attorneys and state court
solicitors.
Only active members may vote in
elections and on questions and matters that are voted on by the membership
and only such members shall be eligible for death benefits.
To remain an active member after
retirement, the member must have been an active member for at least ten
years out of the twelve years immediately preceding his/her retirement
from a position which entitled such person to membership in the
Association.
Dues for active members are $20.00 per
year, which includes $2.00 for a subscription to The
Georgia Peace Officer.

ASSOCIATE
MEMBERSHIP:
Eligibility for associate membership in the Peace Officers Association of
Georgia is open to all persons of good moral character who embrace the
stated mission of the Association and are active supporters of law
enforcement. This includes,
but is not limited to, retired members who do not meet the criteria for
retaining an active membership, widows or widowers of former members,
friends, relatives, associates, and supporters of active or associate
members, and other individuals who have an abiding interest in the role of
law enforcement in our state. Anyone
who has been convicted of a felony or a crime of moral turpitude will not
be considered for membership.
Associate members are entitled to all
rights and privileges of active members except: Voting privileges in
elections and on questions and matters voted on by the membership and the
payment of death benefits.
Dues for associate members are $25.00 per year, which includes a subscription to
The Georgia
Peace Officer magazine. In addition, first time
members receive ONE POAG sticker for display on your automobile. |
