PEACE OFFICER OF THE
YEAR AWARDS
The Peace Officers Association has
sponsored an Officer of the Year program for many years.
Each year an Officer of the Year for Valor and an Officer of the
Year for Meritorious Service are selected.
The award for valor is designated the
Earl Hamrick Award for Valor; the award for meritorious service is
designated the Arthur Hutchins Award for Meritorious Service.
Every year the officers selected to receive these awards are
honored at the annual convention. Each
recipient will be presented an appropriate plaque, medal, framed
resolution, $500 savings bond, and paid lodging expenses for the
convention. In addition,
during the legislative session, both the Georgia State Senate and the
Georgia House of Representatives will present each awardee with a
proclamation designating them as the Georgia Peace Officer of the Year for
their respective category.
