POAG EXECUTIVE MINUTES
- January 2009:
The Executive Committee of the Peace Officers’
Association of Georgia, Inc. held a meeting at 1 P. M., January 8, 2009
at the Kinderlou Forest Golf Club Ravine Restaurant, Valdosta, Georgia.
Committee members attending included President M. Keith Glass, Board
Members Thomas Alley and Stephen Adams, Secretary-Treasurer John Conley,
Legislative Chairman Homer Bryson, and Executive Director Marion Conley.
Board Member Mike Jones, Attorney Frank Childs and Chaplain Rick Lanford
were unable to attend. Ms. Rhonda Barnes, Mickey Pearce, Chief C. F.
Simons, Captain James Waters, Sgt. Brian E. Gay, Sheriff Chris Prine,
Sgt. Ellis Wynn, Jeff Swift, SFC Carl Taylor and Jim Bishop were
visitors.
President Glass called the meeting to order and welcomed all in
attendance.
The invocation was given by Homer Bryson. He also led us in the Pledge
of Allegiance.
A motion was made by Stephen Adams, seconded by Thomas Alley and passed
to approve the minutes from December, 2008. The bank statements have not
come so there was no financial statement available according to Marion
Conley.
A motion was made by John Conley, seconded by Homer Bryson and passed
making Keith Glass President, Mike Jones, Thomas Alley, Stephen Adams,
Marion Conley Vice Presidents and John Conley Secretary for purposes of
corporate titles.
There was a member who had been a member for many many years, had
entered an assisted living home in very bad health with his wife taking
care of him. The POAG dues had not been paid the past year, death had
occurred January 2, 2009. A motion was made by Homer Bryson to waive the
restriction on this payment and pay the death benefit because of the
longevity of his membership. The motion was seconded by John Conley and
passed.
Mr. Jim Bishop, head golf professional at Kinderlou Forest welcomed the
group and spoke to all concerning the upcoming tournament May 4th. He
explained there will be 24 teams that will play in the morning and 24
teams that will play that afternoon. Mr. Bishop’s talk was most
informative.
A decision on next month’s meeting place and time will be made later.
A motion was made by Stephen Adams to adjourn. This motion was seconded
by Thomas Alley and passed. Accordingly, the meeting was adjourned. |
