POAG EXECUTIVE MINUTES - February
2005:
The Executive Committee
of the Peace Officers’ Association of Georgia, Inc. held a meeting at 4 P.
M., September 11,
2004, at the
Macon
Holiday Inn Conference
Center, I-75 and Arkwright Road, Macon, Georgia. Committee members
attending included President Homer Bryson, Vice President Keith Moran, Board
Members Gary Hill and Jimmy Jones, Secretary-Treasurer John Conley,
Legislative Chairman Bob Brown, Attorney Frank Childs and Executive Director
Marion Conley. Chaplain Rick Lanford was unable to attend. Visitors
included: Tanya Perkins, Ken Suddeth, Morgan and Joyce Key and Donna
Holcomb.
President Homer Bryson
called the meeting to order and welcomed all in attendance.
Jimmy Jones made a
motion, which was seconded by Keith Moran to approve the minutes and
financial report from August, 2004. The motion passed.
Jimmy Jones presented a
pair of diamond earrings that had been given the Association by Herbert’s
Jeweler’s of Fort
Valley. These earrings are to be raffled, with the proceeds going to the
victims of the hurricanes that have been occurring in Florida. The
Committee decided to sell tickets for $5.00 each. It was decided to let a
sergeant-at-arms stay at registration and handle the selling of these
tickets since the registration workers are short handed this year.
Secretary-Treasurer John
Conley pointed out that one of the District Directors had acquired some cash
from businesses to be used as door prizes. It was decided to award two
$50.00 bills at the Old Timers Breakfast, a $100.00 bill at the Monday
business session and a $100.00 bill at the Tuesday business session.
Because of the
approaching hurricane, a brief discussion was held on the procedure should
it become necessary to abruptly end the convention. All the Committee
members agreed that we would take one day at a time, make a decision as it
became necessary, and only cancel the convention if it became absolutely
essential.
It was thought that
perhaps Chaplain Rick Lanford would have some singers at the Hour of
Inspiration Sunday night. John Conley made a motion, seconded by Jimmy
Jones and passed to pay these singers a love offering from POAG monies if
the singers performed.
Secretary Conley asked
for permission to pay convention expenses. Accordingly, Gary Hill made a
motion, which was seconded by Jimmy Jones and passed authorizing Secretary
Conley to pay all convention expenses.
A motion was made by Keith Moran and seconded by John Conley to
adjourn the meeting. Accordingly, the meeting was adjourned. |
