POAG
EXECUTIVE MINUTES - August 2005:
The
Executive Committee of the Peace Officers’ Association of Georgia, Inc.
held a meeting at 4 P. M., August 20, 2005, at the Jekyll Island
Oceanfront Resort, Jekyll Island, Georgia. Committee members attending
included President Keith Moran, Vice President Gary W. Hill, Legislative
Chairman Homer Bryson, Secretary-Treasurer John Conley, Attorney Frank
Childs and Executive Director Marion Conley. Vice President Mike
Fordham is deployed and was unable to attend. Board Member Jimmy Jones
was also absent as was Chaplain Rick Lanford. Visitors included: Thomas
A. Alley, Morgan and Joyce Key, Mary Poole, Bill Cline, Charles D.
Sikes, John M. Edwards, Mike Cline and Lisa Casey.
President
Keith Moran called the meeting to order and thanked all for coming.
Legislative Chairman Homer Bryson gave the invocation.
A motion
was made by Homer Bryson, seconded by Gary Hill and passed to approve
the minutes and financial report from July, 2005.
Secretary
Conley brought before the Committee the fact that the price of gasoline
was escalating while POAG was only paying the Committee $.28 per mile
when traveling on official POAG business. A motion was made by John
Conley, seconded by Gary Hill and passed to pay whatever the Federal
cost is. It was later discovered the present Federal cost if $.405 but
expected to increase in 2006.
Past
President Charles Sikes along with present President Keith Moran showed
the audience a beautiful replica of the magazine cover dedicating the
2005 convention to Retired Department of Natural Resources Major Bill
Cline. Director Sikes had had this picture, along with a banner made to
honor Major Cline. This picture and banner will be presented Major
Cline during the award ceremonies.
Legislative Chairman Homer Bryson relayed that Keenan Carter of Ziggy
Mahoney band was suffering from some voice problems so would have a
replacement to perform at the dance Monday night. Homer was hoping to
get the replacement at a reduced price.
A motion
was made by John Conley, seconded by Homer Bryson and passed to adjourn
the meeting. Accordingly, the meeting was adjourned. |
