POAG EXECUTIVE MINUTES
- APRIL 2009:
The
Executive Committee of the Peace Officers’ Association of Georgia, Inc. held
a meeting at 3:30 P. M., April 16, 2009 at the POAG office, Reidsville,
Georgia. Committee members attending included President M. Keith Glass, Vice
President Mike Jones, Board Members Thomas Alley and Stephen Adams,
Secretary-Treasurer John Conley, Legislative Chairman Homer Bryson, and
Executive Director Marion Conley. Attorney Frank Childs and Chaplain Rick
Lanford were unable to attend. Visitors included: Charles Byrd, Debbie Shaw,
R. V. Watts, Ms. Martha Gilland and her guest.
President Glass called the meeting to order and welcomed all who came
especially Ms. Martha Gilland from Senator Isakson’s office.
Captain R. V. Watts from Monroe P. D. gave the invocation and also led us in
the Pledge of Allegiance.
A motion was made by Homer Bryson, seconded by Mike Jones and passed to
approve the minutes and financial report from March, 2009.
Marion Conley reported to the Committee the insurance on the office building
had not been increased since 1998. A motion was made by Stephen Adams,
seconded by Mike Jones to get a quote on increasing the coverage to
$100,000.00 with replacement value from the present company and also from
Robins Federal Insurance Agency. This motion carried.
The fundraising effort was again discussed. Hopefully, by the end of April,
with the exception of supplies, all expenses will be on a current basis.
Supplies will not be on a current basis until the end of June. Maybe at this
point we can begin to realize a profit. We will again discuss this situation
at the May meeting.
Ms. Rhonda Barnes had called the office and informed us there are ten holes
left for teams in the golf tournament. This would be for the morning round
of golf.
Marion Conley reported that the C.D. currently earning 8% interest will be
called by J. P. Morgan April 25th. However, Mike Hoffman will be back in
touch with the office on rates.
President Glass called the next meeting for May 3, 2009 at 6 P. M. at the
Comfort Inn, I-75 and U. S. 84 W. (Exit 16), Valdosta, Georgia.
A motion to adjourn was made by John Conley and seconded by Stephen Adams.
Accordingly, the meeting was adjourned.
